New storage dashboard for better resource management

We’ve added a new Grafana dashboard to help you track and manage unused storage resources across your Kubernetes clusters! This dashboard provides clear visibility into PersistentVolumes and PersistentVolumeClaims that are no longer in use but still consuming storage.

Why are we doing this?

Unused storage blocks can accumulate over time, leading to unnecessary costs and reduced visibility into actual resource usage. This dashboard helps:

• Identify Released PersistentVolumes that can be safely deleted
• Spot unused PersistentVolumeClaims not mounted by any pods
• Track storage waste trends over time
• See which namespaces have the most unused storage

What’s included?

The dashboard shows:

• Count of Released PVs and Unused PVCs
• Total wasted storage capacity
• Detailed tables listing specific resources that need attention
• Breakdown by namespace and storage class
• Historical trends to track improvements

How to access

The dashboard is now available in Grafana under “Storage Waste Dashboard”.
