Roadmap updates: October 2026

#roadmap  #add-on  #devops-as-a-service

Most of our changelog covers the day-to-day: component upgrades, fixes, small improvements. This post steps back. Here’s what we shipped from our roadmap, which new services you can add on top of DevOps-as-a-Service, and what we’re working on next. We plan to share an update like this regularly.

Most of this needs nothing from you. The one exception: if you still use OpenVPN, you need to switch.

What we shipped

  • ingress-nginx replacement: Upstream retired ingress-nginx in March 2026, so it no longer gets security fixes. Traefik is now our default ingress controller, with the AWS Load Balancer Controller as an alternative option. Read more · Roadmap item
  • OpenVPN replacement: We’re retiring OpenVPN. There are two replacements: WireGuard for basic usage, and Tailscale for more advanced usage, like SSO and per-user access control. Tailscale is a paid add-on: as a Tailscale MSP partner we provide the licences, set it up, maintain it and give you first-line support. If you’re still on OpenVPN, reply on the GitHub issue we opened in your repository and we’ll plan the switch with you. Read more · Roadmap item
  • Graviton support: Your clusters can now run AWS Graviton (arm64) nodes, which cost less per vCPU than x86. The system nodes that run the core platform components already run on Graviton, unless your cluster still runs OpenVPN or the retired hierarchical namespaces controller (HNC). Your own node pools stay on x86 for now. We’ll open an issue in your repository to look at moving them to Graviton too. Reply there if you’re interested. Read more · Roadmap item

New services

Both are available now as paid add-ons on top of DevOps-as-a-Service.

  • Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity (DR/BC): Our standard backups protect you against everyday mistakes like a bad deploy or a deleted record. DR/BC covers large outages. Together we agree on the disasters to plan for and your target recovery time and data loss (RTO/RPO). We then build the recovery setup, write the recovery runbooks with you and test them, and you get a report of the results. It also helps you meet ISO 27001, ISO 22301 or similar requirements. You get a budget to approve before each phase starts; the optional recurring testing and 24/7 standby add-ons come with a monthly fee. Read more · Roadmap item
  • Forward Deployed Engineer: Dedicated time from one of our engineers, who already knows your platform, working inside your team on your priorities. Think CI/CD, deployments, developer tooling or application observability, without the hiring and ramp-up. It runs as a monthly retainer for a set number of days per week. Read more

Interested in one of these add-ons? Reach out to your Customer Lead or on Slack and we’ll look at what it would mean for your team.

What we’re working on

  • Cost anomaly detection: When a jump in your AWS spend crosses $100 above what’s expected, an alert lands in your Slack channel within minutes, instead of you finding out on the invoice. We get the same alert. The alerts are already live for every customer. More information on how we follow up on them together with you will follow soon. Read more · Roadmap item
  • Cluster Portal: A web portal, running on your own cluster, where you change your cluster configuration yourself, without filing a request. Every change becomes a pull request you review; merging it rolls the change out, like any other change to your cluster definition. The portal also shows what the platform does for you: usage, versions and changes, alerts we handled. We’re building a first version and will pilot it with one customer. Want to be that customer? Let us know. Roadmap item
  • Security offering: Security pressure keeps rising, from ISO 27001 and NIS-2 to the security questionnaires your own customers send you. We’re running a pilot with a few customers on Aikido, a security platform that scans your code, containers, cloud and Kubernetes setup. Together we’re shaping a security offering on top of it. Interested, or have feedback on what you’d need? Let us know and we’ll look at how we can include you. Roadmap item
